Don't Quit Your Daydream, Part II

Since I was 13, I’ve had the notion in my head that I had to travel to Europe on some amazing adventure that consisted of eating pasta and taking pictures. Basically, I wanted to be Mary-Kate and Ashley in Passport to Paris (Michel on a Vespa included). Last summer, I was able to travel but unfortunately had to choose between eating on my trip and bringing a nice camera. Although my iPhone 5S actually took decent photos for Instagram, there was only so much I was able to capture through 8 megapixels.

So as of Wednesday, April 15, 2015 I purchased a Canon 5D Mark III. It should arrive on Monday and as dumb as it sounds, I feel like I’m expecting a child. It was a huge financial step right out of college but I felt it was worth the investment. As of now, I’ll only be using it for recreational purposes but I can already feel the creative juices flowing.

You see, in my day to day life I don’t get to create much. My job currently consists of polishing memos or creating communication maps. I like what I do and the people I work with, but I don’t get that hands-on feeling of diving into a project heart first… that feeling of falling asleep next to your project because you can’t rest until it’s right, eventually waking up the next morning with paint all over your hands and shouting “Eureka!” because you know what it’s missing to make it perfect. Though I don’t get that in my 9 to 5, I’ve been determined to find it again somehow. I can’t begin to express how excited I am to start learning and creating, but most of all, I’m keeping my motto alive, “Don’t quit your daydream.”
